General Information Resources
- The Homeschooling Toward College (hs2coll) list. It is very common for homeschoolers to take college classes as part of their high school years and many do so much earlier. Lots of California folks on the list.
- The Choice, the education blog of The New York Times.
- The College Board college information pages.
- Facebook pages for colleges of interest. Community colleges in our area and universities as well have lots of good information on Facebook beyond what is on their static Web sites. For example, here's the one for Foothill College, in the Bay Area.
- For UC Berkeley specifically, The Daily Californian and Berkeleyside.
- Google Alerts about colleges and issues of interest. This searches the Web for you daily and sends you info as often as you wish. You can either get them sent to you via email or (my preference) view them in a newsreader such as Google Reader or other newsreader of your choice.
- The Chronicle of Higher Education. Full access to the site is by paid subscription, but you can get email newsletters on topic of interest that link you to much content that is free. I've been tempted to pay for an online sub a couple times, but generally I get what I need just from their freebies. Sign up for desired email newsletters.
- Our friend Wes Beach provides educational consulting through his Beach High School to those who wish to access college and other experiences on their educational journeys.
